A Deep Dive into EDGE NYFW panelist, Fashivly
We’re only 3 days away from EDGE NYFW, the February 8th fashion-tech eventhosted by Manya Jain of Threads of Tech, Mary Korlin-Downs of All Things Fashion Tech, and Colette Johnson of in haus. For our second installation of the Deep Dive, we’re going to introduce you to the virtual styling service, Fashivly, whose CEO, Ashlyn Greer, will be joining us on the AI & Seamless Shopping panel to share insights and innovations in the fashion-tech industry.
How Fashvily Turned Styling into an Online Affair
Launched in the fall of 2020, Fashivly was born out of a friend's request for a personal styling session. Founder Ashlyn Greer, faced with the challenge of not being able to meet in person, developed shoppable digital style guides for her clients, which delivered all the perks of being personally styled by an expert. This convenient email-focused service eliminated the need for in-person meetings or the hassle of returning boxed clothing, making the styling process a breeze. With Fashivly, ease, comfort, and confidence are just a click away, ensuring a stress-free and convenient experience for their clients.
At Fashivly, the styling process is not just about recommending outfits but about understanding and enhancing the client's unique style. It starts with a comprehensive questionnaire designed to grasp the client's style, budget, lifestyle, and body type. Based on these responses, an experienced stylist crafts a personalized style guide featuring outfit recommendations and shopping links. The guide is then conveniently delivered to the client’s inbox, making it easy to access and use.
One of Fashivly's unique selling points is the absence of pressure to make a purchase. Clients can enjoy the service without scheduling meetings or worrying about returning boxed clothing. This, along with the option to include photos of their current wardrobe, enhances the styling process and ensures a customer-centric approach.
Empowering Fashion for People of All Sizes, Styles and Budgets
Fashivly is an online styling service for all genders, sizes, and price points founded by Ashlyn Greer during the height of the pandemic. The Fashivly team believes that the right outfit can uplift our spirits and enhance our confidence. Every day presents an opportunity to express ourselves through fashion, and loving the way we look — regardless of your shape or size — can be a uniquely empowering experience. Fashivly integrates artificial intelligence suggestions with the expertise of professional fashion stylists to develop personalized shopping plans for clients. This approach ensures that each customer receives tailored recommendations that align with their individual preferences and fashion needs.
At Fashivly, stylists believe that fashion is for everyone, regardless of body type, style, or budget. Services are designed to help individuals discover and refine their unique style. They are committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their size or budget, feels confident and empowered in their fashion choices. With Fashivly, there's a style for everybody, every budget, and every personality.
Leading the Online Styling Space
As a styling platform, Fashivly delivers customized shopping experiences through a carefully selected network of expert stylists. What began as a simple operation, accepting requests via Instagram has transformed into a thriving business. Fashivly provides personalized styling services tailored to the individual needs of its clients. The company tackles the frustration of endless scrolling by assisting customers in identifying and articulating their style before they begin shopping. Instead of overwhelming clients with more product suggestions, Fashivly curates and personalizes the enormous selection of over 1 billion clothing options available online, making customers feel acknowledged and unique, ensuring each client feels special and unique in their fashion journey.
Greer, the founder, has a strong background in fashion. She earned her Master’s in Luxury Fashion Management from the Savannah College of Art and Design and worked at Saks, Neiman Marcus, and Belk. Her experience drives Fashivly's success.
Fashivly has undergone significant growth over the years. Initially, in the first year, it was just Greer operating from her studio apartment — she managed orders through Instagram, accepted payments via Venmo, and provided clients with a PDF and Google Doc filled with links to products. In year two, she hired a production assistant to assist with linking products, and six months later, she brought on the first stylist, who has now become a co-founder and Brand Director. Currently, the company has a team of full-time and part-time employees working daily to develop the business, along with over 20 contract stylists from various sectors collaborating with clients each week.
How AI Can Shape Fashion
Fashivly is on the third version of its innovative platform, which is the central focus of the company's efforts. It uses AI on the back end, with the consumer-facing version having launched in Fall 2024. This took the company from a service-oriented business to a fashion tech business that now has growth to scale. The core philosophy behind Fashivly is the integration of artificial intelligence to serve and enhance human creativity rather than completely replace it. The team is dedicated to finding the best styling tips for each customer, and stylists use their proprietary machine-learning algorithm within the process.
While AI is remarkably adept at recognizing and replicating existing patterns, it requires users to clearly specify the patterns they wish to explore in order to achieve the desired results. This can pose a challenge, particularly because many clients approach Fashivly feeling uncertain about their personal style and what they truly want. This confusion can make it difficult for them to articulate their needs effectively, complicating the process of finding the right solutions to express their unique fashion sense.
EDGE NYFW, our event in Union Square on February 8th, will feature the CEO of Fashivly as well as leaders from Future Reference, which simplifies wardrobe management by allowing you to sell your designer clothes and keep 90% of the sale price and ARI, wholistic AI personal styling platform that’s building the future of human self-expression. You can also see panelists from Pickle, Amazon Fashion, Rent the Runway, Eon and Coachtopia (Posh x EON x Coachtopia).
